A journalist was in a small Alabama town to write up a Christmas report. As
he entered the town square, he was impressed to see a quaint Nativity scene
with figures of Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, and the three wise men. One
thing puzzled him though ... the wise men were all wearing firemen's hats.
He went back to the motel and asked the girl at the front desk if she knew
why the wise men were wearing firemen's hats.

"City folk," she replied, "Ya think ya know ever'thang, don't ya? Y'all
ain't nuthin' but city folk who don't read the Bible!"

"Pardon me, but I do read the Bible," he replied. "There's nothing in the
Bible about firemen's hats!"

Muttering under her breath, she pulled out a Bible from under the desk and
said, "Looky right here. It says, 'They came down from afar'!"

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Dale

I need to know what happened last nite in the SUGAR BOWL who was that team ??????

01/03/09 02:11 PM

Kathleen (Kathy) Jones Box

Hey Otis. That TEAM was Utah.....those other guys were NOT a TEAM!
Oh, well. Roll Tide anyway!

01/03/09 05:15 PM

Lawton Higgs

Yep... Roll Tide anyway. 12-2 and a trip to the Sugar Bowl is way more than almost everyone expected from this team. I hate it that John Parker returned to his less-than-stellar pre-2008 form (throwing interceptions, missing almost sure touchdown passes to wide open receivers, fumbling the ball... ugh). I also hate it for the team that one guy's irresponsibility (Andre Smith) probably cost them a shot at winning the bowl game... but life goes on. I think its completely reasonable for Bama fans to expect things to continue on the upswing!

So when are we gonna have another geeeeet-together?!? Was da plan???

:-)

Edie Hutchins Sheppeard

I agree...Roll Tide anyway...We will get 'em next year for sure!

That's what I like about yall(southern slang for you all)I also love my team too and that's who ever is the winner. This time I'll sit on the fence and watch and not pick a side for right now until my Steelers lose then we'll get them next year, so until then stay blessed everyone Otis

Otis I think we all know what ya'll means. We are southern born and breed ya know! LOL...

Otis, Ute ought to know an average team cannot win against teams that are better than they are. Ute should hve known after they lost to Florida they were exposed to not being as good as everybody thought. The Utah Utes just confirmed it. After all Ute can look at the SEC West and see they came out of a division that under performed compared to years past. But not to worry, with ya'll's schedule Ute should be at worst 10-2 and at best 12-0. Depends on Ole Miss and LSU. Bonus that with your weak non conference schedule and Ute should be at the top again.
AS for Auburn they are years behind now. Not that I really liked Tubbs, but go after a real head coach. I see them at 3-9 or 4-8 at best. They are the step-child of the state again.
Just glad NASCAR is about to start. Even though my favorite driver has ventured from the #20 Home Depot and JGR I hope he will be competitive as a owner/driver. Drive it Home """TONY STEWART""".
Hope UTE all had a Happy and safe New Year. Otis, Ute take care of them Steelers.

01/05/09 01:25 PM

Brenda Boyd

MMMMMmmmmm....Let's see, Bobby...Ute thinks that "AWburn" is now years behind, 3-9, or 4-8 at best, and you really don't like Tubbs. As MUCH as UTE talked about BAMA football, I think that UTE must secretly want to be a BAMA FAN!!! It's o.k.,Bobby, us BAMA FANS understand!! Let's hear you said it Bobby, "ROLL, TIDE, ROLL!!!!!!!!!"

01/05/09 04:59 PM

Lawton Higgs

Now Brenda, that was uncalled for... Saying that Bobby wants to be an Alabama fan! My goodness!!!

Bobby I disagree about the Florida thing. Alabama played Florida to a statistical dead heat -- except for the only stat that counts (the score). Tebo was the difference, and I really expected that he would win the Heisman again. I guess he'll just have to settle for a Heisman last year and a National Championship this year (and then I hope he leaves... har har har).

My take on the Utah game is this: Bama's offensive line was the key to the team this year. If you can run the ball you control the game clock. If you can run the ball you don't get all the blitzes and funky d-line stunt packages. In Bama's case for the '08 season, if you can run the ball you keep your quarterback from freaking out and doing dumb things. With Andre gone, and then with Mike Johnson injured, the O-line was a mere shadow of itself (and the blocking was shadowy as a result). I also think that the game meant EVERYTHING to Utah and not very much to Alabama.

IMO it's time to reconsider the whole BCS setup. It's not doing for the bowls what it was advertised to do. Did anyone see the crowd at the Orange Bowl? It was less than half full, and for good reason. Who is going to pay big bucks to see Va. Tech play Cincinnati? I mean no disrespect to those teams... But this was the ORANGE BOWL, and game that's expected to showcase a game between national powers. Sad. Alabama vs. Utah wasn't really the kind of game that the Sugar Bowl should have. I'd have rather seen Alabama playing Penn State, or Texas. Either of those matchups would have been a more appealing game for a national audience, and I think Alabama would have "shown up" to play it. I won't be surprised if some of the big bowl games defect from the arrangement really soon.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts on it all.

PS: I think Auburn is way better than 4-8 next year. There are too many good players there already.

;-)

Bob Averett

I will still stand by Alabama was the best average team in the nation and had a schedule (just like next year) for them to run the table. And Brenda I will never be a BAMAR. In fact I really don't know who to pull for next year as the people at Auburn are eating loco weed. Lawton, Auburn plays seven teams that went to bowl games (this year) next year. With the coaches Cheese-ick is hiring, no matter the talent they will not win. I am a realist and see things in black and white. The way Arkansas was playing toward the end of the year they will be better than Auburn. These are the games Auburn will win next year, La. Tech, Ms. State, Furman and maybe Ball State. Now I am through talking Al./Aub football til Aug.
LETS GO RACING BOYS!!!!

01/06/09 03:25 AM

Kathleen (Kathy) Jones Box

Hey Lawton, I think you hit the nail on the head. There is a respect "thing" there, and also, an INCONSISTENT (I don't care how many records he has broken) quarterback. Enough of that....Otis, Edie, Bob, where did you get your southern education?? It's "y'all", NOT "ya'll"! hehe :)
